A Riotous Rollercoaster of Laughs
Fantasy World Adventures Mega Park! The Musical is the debut production from emerging Leeds based theatre company, FWAMP! Theatre Company. Specialising in musical theatre comedy, the company was formed in late 2024 with the creation of a hilarious musical comedy that is joyful and entertaining simply for the sake of it!
The show, written by Abbie Freeston with music by Matthew Stanley, was born from conversations around how the world can be a bit bleak at times, and how important it is to create entertainment for entertainment’s sake. The show has a unique flair of British humour fused with contemporary themes that resonate with today’s audience. The score covers a range of genres from RnB to pop ballads, with storylines and songs for everyone.
The show follows Theme Park nepo baby Teddy Mega as he struggles with inheriting his family’s legacy, navigating relationships and keeping a big secret from his mum. As he follows the path of his father and takes on the role of CEO, Teddy reveals his one true passion is to become the theme park’s infamous mascot, much to his mother’s disgust. We follow Teddy on a riotous rollercoaster as he tries to juggle keeping his mum happy, a budding relationship and a rival theme park, all while hiding a big secret.
The show debuted with 5-star reviews at the stage@leeds theatre in 2025, the alma-mater for some of the team, welcoming in a range of audiences from musical theatre lovers to rollercoaster enthusiasts. Building on this momentum, FWAMP! Theatre Company is looking to build and expand on this success at the Edinburgh Fringe.
The team behind FWAMP! met while studying at universities in Leeds and taking part in musical theatre productions while there. Now, they are turning this passion for theatre and the arts into their careers with a venture to the Edinburgh Fringe. Being a start-up group, the team are all at the start of their careers and are seizing the opportunity to springboard their creative journeys, spanning writers, producers and actors.
The team are incredibly excited to showcase Leeds talent at the largest performing arts festival in the world, starting with two preview shows in stage@leeds in Leeds on 30th & 31st July before taking the journey up north!
Earlier this year, FWAMP! Theatre Company was recognised as one of 16 recipients of the prestigious Keep it Fringe fund – a fund originally set up by Phoebe Waller-Bridge in 2023 to support artists in taking unique and innovative work to the festival.
Abbie Freeston, writer and director of Fantasy World Adventures Mega Park! The Musical, said: “We are thrilled to be presenting Fantasy World Adventures Mega Park! to the world again this year, both at Edinburgh Fringe and in Leeds – we hope that new audiences can experience the joy that the show brings and support us on our journey as a new and upcoming theatre company that found its beginnings in Leeds.”

Editor’s Note: Having reviewed Fantasy World Adventures Mega Park! in 2025, I can confidently say it’s a must-see for anyone who loves musical theatre, chaotic comedy, or simply a great night out. Its feel-good energy, hilarious script and infectious songs make it a ride worth taking. I’ll be back to watch it again this year – let’s help make both Leeds preview performances a sell-out and send FWAMP! to Edinburgh with the momentum it deserves. Deby
