Take Time Out to Craft in 2026

Tucked away in Meanwood Community Centre, Stitch-Up Craft School is a social enterprise established in 2015 and dedicated to creating opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to learn new craft skills and connect with others through a community programme of craft groups, courses, workshops and events.

Specialising in textiles, Stitch-Up teaches valuable, practical craft skills while also focusing on the power of craft and creativity to bring people together and support everyday wellbeing and mental health.
Whether it’s knitting, crochet, weaving, sewing, macramé, textile printing or anything else creative you’re interested in, there is something for everyone. All sessions are taught by a team of talented local artists and makers who believe in the positive impact of craft on wellbeing.

You can choose from welcoming groups such as Mindful Making, Sewing Studio, Crochet Group or Young Makers for children; exciting community courses each term (with appliqué and weaving coming up soon); specialist Saturday workshops; Thursday evening tasters including darning and mending, embroidery, rag rugging and macramé; as well as one-off events and open studios.

With most sessions offered as free or pay what you can, Stitch-Up believes that craft and making should be accessible to all. Any profits from the online craft shop and paid-for workshops are reinvested directly into the weekly community programme. Stitch-Up is also dedicated to true collaboration with local community organisations, schools and charities, ensuring creative opportunities reach those who may need extra support.

“Everything is perfect, all of the teachers are so welcoming, supportive, kind and approachable – I cannot express how wonderful, compassionate and mindful Stitch-up is”.
