Hidden just off Stainbeck Avenue you will find Meanwood Community Centre, a fully inclusive and accessible bustling hub of community activities and events, managed by Leeds Community Spaces.

It’s many permanent residents including Interact Pantry, Meanwood Valley Preschool (currently being re-branded as Fox Family Hub), Stitch-up, Yamsen and ArtForms offer great community based services.

An awesome space which welcomes one off events as well as hosting a regular timetable of activities that range from yoga classes, tai chi, drama, football, oriental dance, drama club, support groups and school uniform exchanges. The Meanwood Community Centre offers something for everyone in the community. The hall can also be hired for private events.

Interact Pantry

Memberships are available to anyone living within a 20 minute walk of Meanwood Community Centre.

Open: Mon: 2.30pm – 4.30pm and 6 – 8pm Tues: 9.30am – 11.30am

Join as a member and pay £3.50* (*£5 special deal for larger households) for a weekly shop, including essential food, groceries and toiletries.

Interact Pantry Meanwood is part of the Your Local Pantry Network.

Fox Family Hub

Meanwood Valley Pre-school is relaunching as Fox Family Hub!
A new Community Interest Company – Fox Social Enterprise.

The pre-school is open: 9am-3pm during term time.
Their bespoke curriculum is designed to build children’s confidence and support them fully to develop the skills that they need to prepare them for their lives beyond preschool.
Mums and Babies group: 10am-12pm every Friday – term time.

Meanwood Valley Partnership

The objective of the Meanwood Valley Partnership is to protect, preserve, enhance and promote Meanwood.
They produced the Love Meanwood Vision and are working to carry out projects in the Heart of Meanwood and Greenspaces. Greenwood is their group working to help individuals and businesses act to reduce carbon emissions.

Leeds Artforms

Leeds ArtForms run two sets of steel pan classes at Meanwood Community Centre.

Tuesdays – The City of Leeds Youth Music Steel Band, The Leeds Silver Steel Sparrows run by Victoria Jaquiss and percussion specialist Chris Greer.

Wednesdays – two adults only music centre classes taught jointly by Victoria Jaquiss, Bex Ainge and Wanda Thorpe.
All the bands play local gigs in the town centre or in Inner North Leeds, Meanwood Festival, Headingley Festival, Leeds Town Hall and of course in Meanwood Community Centre itself.

stitch up

Stitch-Up Community Interest Company, is a Craft School based at Meanwood Community Centre.

Learn a new skill in their inspiring craft workshops and courses for adults and children or join one of the weekly craft social groups.

All profits are reinvested into running community projects to help improve lives through craft and creativity.
