There’s a book for you, around the next corner
This is especially true in Leeds!
Leeds Little Free Library is a growing network of beautiful book exchanges across our city. Just take a book or leave a book.
Founder of the initiative Carry Franklin began with the first Little Library, Box Number One, in 2016 just outside her home in LS6. Following its success she raised funds and proceeded to manage the creation of further boxes until she sadly lost her battle with cancer in 2019. The Little Free Libraries continue as Carry’s legacy to be truly appreciated citywide with many more being designed and created every year.
Sprinkled like fairy dust across the city you will find these wonderful pieces of art – each containing stories to take you and your children off on wonderful, magical or terrifying adventures.
All of the delightful Leeds Little Free Library boxes have been lovingly crafted by Handmade in Headingley and designed by local artists.

We regularly donate some of ours too. The kids love the thought of a secret library that isn’t so secret, it definitely makes books more exciting.”

Do you have a book at home that you’ve loved reading?
Dropping it off at one of the Leeds Little Free Libraries gives someone else in your local community the opportunity to love it too. (You could write a note, review or further reading recommendations inside).
You never know what book you might find in your local box, they are free to take and the boxes are open to everyone! Next time you pass a box, why not take a look?
