Roundhay Artists always enjoy showing their new work and discussing their creative processes with visitors to their Open Studios Art Trail – but this year is particularly special as they celebrate their 10th anniversary!
The group has grown and developed tremendously since two local artists, Debbie Samuel and Miriam Laville, took the initiative to organise the first Open Studios in 2014.
“Little did we expect when we had the idea of an artists’ trail in and around Roundhay that it would become an annual celebration, bringing together great local artists in a family friendly community event. Neither did we anticipate that a group of artists would come together and collaboratively work with local groups in successful fundraising ventures for local good causes such as St Gemma’s Hospice. We’re very proud of the way Roundhay Artists has evolved and become an established exhibiting and demonstrating group of professional and semi-professional artists.”

This year Roundhay Artist members include artists producing unique work in a variety of styles, using a wide range of materials, along with makers and craftspeople offering prints, stained glass, wood working, felt making, sculpture and photography.
During the Early May Bank Holiday from Saturday 4th to Monday 6th May visitors to the artists’ studios, open houses and displays in two church ‘hubs’ will again have the opportunity to view and purchase unique pieces directly from those who created them and find out some of the secrets of how they did it!
